## Descriptions

### Short (≈30 words)

Expedition Astra is a physics-based VR space combat game. Secure hostile asteroid sites in true zero gravity — drift, fight, dock, and pull resources from the rock itself.

### Medium (≈90 words)

Expedition Astra is a physics-based space combat game built for VR cockpit presence. You are alone in deep space, approaching silent asteroid sites where old machines have taken control. In true zero gravity, every maneuver matters — rotation, drift, and momentum decide whether you survive the approach. Skim crater walls, lock onto threats with headset-based targeting, dock with old survey craft, and press your REX module against the asteroid until it fractures. The dark hides threats. The Firefly drone is the only thing that sees for you.

### Long (≈300 words)

You are alone in deep space, approaching silent asteroid sites where old machines have taken control. Your instruments are limited. The dark hides threats, and every maneuver matters in true zero gravity, where rotation, drift, and momentum can decide whether you survive the approach.

Expedition Astra is a physics-based space combat game built around the rock. Combat happens close to the surface. Craters hide weapons. Rovers patrol the surface. Hover ships pull the fight into open zero gravity. Use Smart Newtonian control for careful drift and precise alignment, then switch to Vector Flight when the engagement gets close and you need the ship to respond.

The asteroid is the battlefield, and it is not empty. Rovers crawl across the rock, cutting off safe paths near the surface. Hover ships patrol above, fast enough to turn a quiet approach into a moving fight. Heavy projectiles can break machines apart, but they also throw debris across the field. Fire carelessly, and the space you need to fly through becomes harder to survive.

When you find a resource-rich asteroid, press the front-mounted Regolith Extraction Module — REX — against the surface and hold contact until the rock fractures. Rare metals burst into space. Back out before the debris field damages your ship.

In VR, you sit inside the cockpit, look around the asteroid field, aim with your headset, and judge distance through motion and scale. A small drone called Firefly follows your gaze and lights whatever you are looking at. In the shadow of an asteroid, it is the only thing that sees for you.

The game is also playable on a standard display with a game controller. HOTAS support is planned.

## About the Developer

Expedition Astra is a one-person project by Ankit Raj Gupta, shaped by a love of space, physics, and distant worlds. The goal was to make the game mechanics feel grounded in realism without losing the fun — zero-gravity flight, manual docking, weapon impact, drifting debris, and the act of touching the asteroid itself.

That curiosity shaped the REX system, inspired by missions like OSIRIS-REx and the question of what it might feel like to get close to one of these tiny worlds and pull something from the surface.

The game is in active development under Light Year Interactive Inc. and will launch first on Steam — wishlist now to follow along.
